Defending The Anointing – Ensure Your Lead Pastor Rests On His Off Days (Part 8)

Bishop Pride Sibiya has been in the trenches ministering the gospel for over two decades now.

He is the Founding President and Presiding Bishop of Glory Ministries. Amongst his many sons and daughters; I have been priviledged to directly manage and administer him since July 2013.

He triples up as my Lead Pastor, District Pastor; and Bishop of Glory Ministries. In addition to that, he has numerous outside engagements; both at ministerial and professional levels.

Bishop Pride Sibiya is a married man with three daughters. His immediate family broadens up to include his biological mother, sister siblings, in-laws, close relatives and many other dependents who also live with him.

It is a herculean task to manage a Kingdom General of that magnitude. It calls for much more dedication, service and sacrifice. What I am going to share in this article series is informed by both experience and revelation.

8. Ensure Your Lead Pastor Rests On His Off Days: When your lead pastor becomes chronically tired, discouraged, dismayed or overwhelmed by the incessant demands of ministry; he can suffer from stress, depression and burnout. Congregants will never really understand that their shepherd needs sometime alone; away from them; and possibly sleeping at home and reading newspapers.
Their assumptions are premised on the perception that the pastor is always in spirit, stays closer to God; and hence does not really need that break. They assume he is strong, and they are the weak ones!

However, ministry is a seriously demanding assignment. A number of pastors have fallen victim to fatigue, stress and burnout. They have gone on to quit ministry to the utter surprise of their followers. In some extreme cases, pastors have fallen chronically ill and died because no one cared to manage their workmanship roles.

If your lead pastor stays too much in office, it can also affect his marriage and family relations. Therefore, as a trusted lieutenant; it is your responsibility to ensure that he occasionally gets his much needed rest away from the ministry pressures.

May God bless you in your service as you defend the anointing.
