Defending The Anointing – Avoid Retaliatory Tendencies (Part 4)

Bishop Pride Sibiya has been in the trenches ministering the gospel for over two decades now.

He is the Founding President and Presiding Bishop of Glory Ministries. Amongst his many sons and daughters; I have been priviledged to directly manage and administer him since July 2013.

He triples up as my Lead Pastor, District Pastor; and Bishop of Glory Ministries. In addition to that, he has numerous outside engagements; both at ministerial and professional levels.

Bishop Pride Sibiya is a married man with three daughters. His immediate family broadens up to include his biological mother, sister siblings, in-laws, close relatives and many other dependents who also live with him.

It is a herculean task to manage a Kingdom General of that magnitude. It calls for much more dedication, service and sacrifice. What I am going to share in this article series is informed by both experience and revelation.

4. Avoid Retaliatory Tendencies: Pastors are called of God; and their mandate comes from above. But in execution of their earthly mandate, sometimes they may do weird things. Yes, weird things! They are human beings. They carry the earthly sinful nature like everyone else.
Defending The Anointing – Avoid Retaliatory Tendencies (Part 4)

When your lead pastor shouts at you in anger, it is naturally painful especially when you are innocent. The logical thinking pushes you to shout back in defense of your territorial integrity. Retaliation to your lead pastor is a dangerous trajectory. Never attempt that regardless of how vindicated you are. It will be your Achilles heel for the rest of your service; counter-productive to your progress.
Raising your voice against a servant of God is detrimental to your spiritual covering. Yes pastors are also natural human beings who make mistakes; but be mature enough to handle your seniors. God will always vindicate you in the long run. Your role is not to defend yourself; you are there to serve!

Many times I have taken ownership of the things that were not necessarily my responsibility, but as a leader I have to be accountable without murmuring. I have shared in the collective battering in many messed up situations. More often than not we have managed to clear the mess even without involving my lead pastor. That is true leadership and maturity.

May God bless you in your service as you defend the anointing.
