Bishop Pride Sibiya has been in the trenches ministering the gospel for over two decades now.
He is the Founding President and Presiding Bishop of Glory Ministries. Amongst his many sons and daughters; I have been priviledged to directly manage and administer him since July 2013.
He triples up as my Lead Pastor, District Pastor; and Bishop of Glory Ministries. In addition to that, he has numerous outside engagements; both at ministerial and professional levels.
Bishop Pride Sibiya is a married man with three daughters. His immediate family broadens up to include his biological mother, sister siblings, in-laws, close relatives and many other dependents who also live with him.
It is a herculean task to manage a Kingdom General of that magnitude. It calls for much more dedication, service and sacrifice. What I am going to share in this article series is informed by both experience and revelation.
10. Apply The Law of The Last Line Of Defense: The law of the last line of defense teaches us to always safeguard our lead pastor against becoming too operational in the church’s discussions, transactions or daily affairs. At first he can start so because the church will still be smaller, but as the ministry grows it becomes of paramount importance to separate him from the nitty gritties of the church.
Take for example; a young child has misbehaved in front of the congregants. Your lead pastor then takes a whip and begins beating the child in front of everyone.
There are so many things at stake for him there:
Child rights groups may quickly get the wind of the occurrence and report him to the police. He could end up fighting for his freedom against established lawyers in the land.
He may lose the respect of the parents of the delinquent child.
He may equally lose the respect of other church members and congregants.
The beaten child may end up with serious injuries and gets admitted in hospital; at the expense of the lead pastor.
The beaten child may feel aggrieved and seek to revenge for his beatings; possibly injuring the lead pastor with a stone or another dangerous object.
The lead pastor may encounter physical confrontation from the aggrieved parents, who may possibly harm him in the process.
Therefore, the law of the last line of defense seeks to elevate the lead pastor to the position of mediator, arbitrator or an institution of appeal. When people have been disturbed by occurrences, they should find his office ready for appeal. But when he gets involved in the lower shenanigans; it then leaves the church without a dependable last line of defense.
