We are distraught, deeply saddened, and shell shocked by the tragic loss of our young boys who were our future leaders. The three young boys namely Kupakwashe Kanyerere, Makatendekaishe Saunyama and Zvikomborero Rambanepasi drowned in a nearby dam. Our consented efforts to retrieve their bodies only managed to locate one body, on whom our first aid team relentlessly tried to revive and quickly rushed him to Marondera General Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival.
Efforts by the Police Sub Aqua Unit to retrieve the other two bodies did not materialize on the same day because when they arrived it was already dark. They however managed to retrieve the two bodies the following early morning.
Suffice to state that the 2018 edition of our Ministers Conference was attended by a total of 215 leaders at the usual meeting place in Marondera – and the deceased were also part of the attendees to this annual meeting and after the tragedy, the meeting was subsequently cancelled.
Since the tragic loss, the church has engaged the families and the community in consoling and counselling all the affected members to help deal with the loss.
