Provide a Home

Provide a Home … And they continued steadfastly in … fellowship… Acts 2.42

Here the Bible says the church is a fellowship. Fellowship is not just something the church is. It is something we do. The best definition of fellowship is "Two fellows on the same ship." The word used for fellowship here is koinonia. The early church continued in fellowship.

The early church also moved from “house to house”
… daily in the temple, and in every house (oikos), they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ… Acts 5:42

Please take note of the words every house. The disciples moved from “house to house “teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. The book of Philippians makes it clear that the Philippians always met continuously Paul says … always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ… Philippians1.4-5.
As a ministry, we will strive to become a home and thus provide a home to all our ministry members.

John provided Mary a home!
… Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home… John 19:27

In the same way that John provided a home for Mary the mother of Jesus, we as a ministry will provide a home to everyone who comes into Glory Ministries.

The leaders in the early church were home providers: There is a feeling that must be present in a house before it can be considered a home. Paul in his admonition to the churches emphasizes being hospitable, he says :
…do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels… Hebrew13.2

Paul is not encouraging just taking in any strangers into their homes. The word used for stranger here refers to people who travel because of the gospel. When they arrive in the cities, they were supposed to be given a home by the saints. In the book of Romans Paul recommend Phoebe to the church at Rome by saying

… I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also.

So if Pheobe, who is from the church at Cenchrea, goes to the church at Rome, she will be a stranger to them. Also a new believer who has just received Jesus Christ is a stranger to the church and thus need the more mature Christians to entertain them and provide them.
