Explosive Evangelism

Explosive Evangelism … And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved… Acts 2.47

Evangelism and Outreach: The word explosive stems from the word “dunamis”. (Dunamis specifically miraculous power). This word come from Acts1.8 were Jesus promises the disciples by saying …you shall receive power (“dunamis”) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth…

The word “dunamis” brings out an element of power, impact and influence. Jesus says that the reason for the power is to allow the disciples to become witnesses of Jesus Christ. In simple words, Jesus Christ is saying the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon us to empower us to become evangelistic powerhouses. When a Christian receives the power of the Holy Spirit, the next thing is for them to become evangelistic witnesses to Jesus.

The early church was an evangelistic oriented church. So evangelistic was the church that even the deacons evangelized their community. The first early church martyr was a deacon who was killed for evangelizing. So strong was the early church’s evangelistic trust that the bible says the Lord literally: … added to the church daily those who were being saved… Acts2.47
Explosive Evangelism means just that! The Holy Spirit is our bomb and wherever we pass through we leave a mark. The bible concerning the disciples says they: …turned the world upside down… Acts17:6

This was a statement of fear because the disciples would preach Jesus wherever they went and their ministry was followed by the demonstration of power … these who have turned the world upside down have come here too… Acts 17:6.

The first command of Jesus to his disciples is found in the book of Mark and it reads: Then Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men." Mark 1:17
And Jesus’ last command is found in the book of Acts and it reads: But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8

The great commission in Mathew 28:18-20 also emphasizes evangelism and the early church was faithful to this command as seen is the book of Acts. The bible says: Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Acts 8:4
